Dear Parent(s),
It was my pleasure to meet many of you at Open House on Sunday. Thank you so much for welcoming me to the school as I begin working with your children in religion class.
While I have only been here a few short weeks, I have noticed that many of you are school volunteers working together to make Precious Blood not only a place for academic learning, but also a place to raise children in the Christian faith. Children learn of God’s generosity by watching their parents. As Mr. Mecoli, our principal, indicated in an earlier parent letter, we want to assist you on teaching the value of service to others. You will be hearing more about that in a future letter.
As a school, we are also working on the virtue of respect. Our vision is that younger children in the school, the staff at Precious Blood, and the community-at-large will look at our junior high and say, “Wow! These 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are respectful servant-leaders.”
To that end, Mr. Benjamin, the new youth minister, and I will be leading a retreat for each of the junior high classes. All retreats are held during the school day at Transfiguration Retreat Center on Calumet Road located north of West Milton, Ohio. We will leave school promptly at 8:30 and return by 2:30. Students will be transported by Northmont buses. The cost for use of the Retreat Center and transportation is $10.00. Students should wear jeans in good repair, a collared shirt, and tennis shoes. Students must bring a packed lunch.
It is our hope that these retreats will help us grow in our respect for one another and bring us closer together as we earnestly begin our year of service.
Thank you and please pray for us on September 9th (Grade 6), September 10th (Grade 7), and September 11th (Grade 8). If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at bmaloney@preciousbloodschool.org.
Mrs. Maloney
