How You Can Help Your Child Develop as a Writer

  1. Walk in a respectful manner in the classroom and the hallways
  2. Be quiet and listen while others are talking
  3. Keep your hands to yourself
  4. Use kind and gentle words and actions
  5. Follow directions/stay on task

  1. The first time students break a rule, they receive a warning.
  2. The second time students break a rule; they will have to spend their morning recess in the quiet room.
  3. If bad behavior should continue, I will be contact parents through either a note or phone call home.

Students will have the opportunity to earn CHANCE cards (tickets) by demonstrating good behavior. When I see students acting as good examples, I will give them CHANCE cards. Students will write their name on the card and drop it in a canister. At the end of each week, we will have a drawing. If a student’s name is drawn, he/she will receive a prize. The reason they are called CHANCE cards is because they work similar to a lottery…there is only a CHANCE that a student might win a prize. That chance, however, should motivate them to be on their best behavior.
