Intermediate Art

I see the students once a week for an hour.

Projects can last several weeks. Students are expected to put several concepts together.  They learn how to evaluate their work and make changes if needed. Students need to demonstrate an understanding of concepts. Strong craftsmanship is important. They will have homework. Art production can be both challenging and exciting.

I expect students to come prepared to class with supplies and homework.

4th grade has an art workbook where concepts are introduced. I check to make sure students understand each concept. Projects show if the student can apply the concepts to a work of art. We will start the year off with line, shape and value.  Students also learn how to research an artist, to talk and write about artwork, and to combine these skills to create an art history time line.

5th grade students have a sketchbook /workbook here they will write down concepts discussed in class, continue to do artist worksheets like last year and develop ideas for projects.  We will spend the first few weeks looking at landscape paintings and painting landscapes in a variety of styles, we will then move on to architecture.
