I
see primary students once a week for an hour.
Each class I emphasize one goal or main idea, could be an art form, concept or process through a variety of artists, cultures and historical periods. Art is fun but sometimes hard. Good craftsmanship is emphasized in art production.
Grading: I grade every project but students don’t always see the grade. I want them to focus on the process of art making. You may ask to see the grades. Students will receive an S Satisfactory if they have a basic understanding of the goal. A student will receive an S+ if the work shows a strong understanding of the concept and or if past concepts are applied to the work.. Occasionally a student will receive an N for needs improvement for a particular project. This just means they have not had enough experience or exposure for the concept. By offering a variety of art opportunities and practicing previous concepts the student’s creative genius will grow.
