My name is Mrs. Foster and I am the Junior High Science Teacher. For those of you who don't know me, I am married and I have 2 children. My husband and I own a restaurant in Piqua, where we live. So my life is busy just like yours and to help us all out I am writing a brief description of my classroom rules and procedures for you.
I want to welcome all of you to the junior high. I just would like to touch briefly on my grading system, rules in my class, and about SCIENCE FAIR.
The grading system is a point system. The grades are based on homework, test, and participation. There is no extra credit given in my class. Students do have a chance to do make-up work on test if they score 69% or below on it. When they do the make-up work on a test- it is to be a separate sheet of paper and they are to write out the questions and the answers. All tests must be signed by the parent or guardian - this way parents know what is going on in Science class. We usually take about two weeks to complete a chapter and when we are finished I will test the students.
The rules of the classroom are based on the word RESPECT
- students need to respect others in the classroom. Students will
receive a check on their conduct card for any disrespect shown to
others.
Parent(s) or guardians, you can help by making sure to check
your child's planner for homework and their cards. The student should
have written down his or her assignments, and you can check to make sure
they are done. While doing that you can check their conduct and homework
card - these are found in the front and back of the planner.
SCIENCE FAIR IS February 1, 2008 - this is mandatory for all junior high students. It is worth 300 points of the third quarter grade. I will be sending home paperwork in late September, early October.
